Whittaker reportedly in line for IBF eliminator against Wallace
Ben Whittaker could face an order for Conor Wallace in an IBF light-heavyweight eliminator, per the latter's promoter Mick Francis.
'The Surgeon' is expected to return to the ring in October after victories against Braian Suarez and Richard Rivera earlier this year.
While Whittaker is keen to secure a major title shot at some point, backers Matchroom have sought to burnish his record thus far.
But Australian Wallace could be on his dance card if the IBF elect to make an order, with Francis suggesting a chance is incoming.
"Conor has been waiting for this opportunity for a while," he told Boxing Scene. "We all know how slow it moves at the top end.

"They were going to order that fight a couple of weeks ago but they waited for Ben to have his fight over in the United States.
"It's a fight that Conor wants. I feel [he] has a chance to win. It's 50-50 as far as I'm concerned but we need to bring that fight to Australia."
Whittaker could choose to skip a bout with Wallace however, amid a major sea change in the light-heavyweight division right now.
Current IBF holder Dmitry Bivol is expected to potentially face Callum Smith next, unless he opts to vacate the WBO belt rather than defend.
That could have a domino effect that might present Whittaker with a more lucrative option at domestic level for his pathway towards the summit.
