DAZN News rounds up the biggest boxing stories on Thursday, April 16.
Talks for Ryan Garcia to face Conor Benn are progressing well, according to Boxing Scene.
The potential WBC welterweight title clash is targeted for August, although the exact date and venue have yet to be established.
Things are progressing quickly after Benn returned to the ring to record a unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Garcia won the title with a wide points win over Mario Barrios in February and is on the hunt for an opponent for his first defence.
After announcing his retirement following his defeat to Conor Benn at the weekend, Regis Prograis already appears to be having second thoughts.
The former two-time world champion said he wouldn’t fight again after his 10-round contest in London but the 37-year-old has already performed a U-turn.
“I’ll come back in a few years,” Prograis told The Ring.
“When I’m like 40 years old I’ll come back. It just won’t be at 140 pounds, but I’ll come back.”
Another man not too keen on retiring just yet is Frazer Clarke, who has received praise for his performance in defeat on Saturday.
Clarke lost a majority decision to Justis Huni on that same card at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but there were plenty of positive to take from that first outing with new coach Joe Gallagher.
Speaking to The Ring, Clarke said: “Didn't get the result I wanted, unfortunately. Close but no cigar and in this game, if you're not first, you're last. So, yeah, not a great feeling. Never will be, I’ll never get used to losing.
“But a lot of positive feedback off people, you know. A lot of messages talking about the performance and how it was a lot better, which I know. And I still know that there's better to come yet, if I'm honest.”
