Caroline Dubois vs. Camilla Panatta Keys to Victory: Breaking down tactics of each fighter

Ultimate Tier: PPVs & 185 fight nights included

During the final fight press conference earlier this week, Alycia Baumgardner and Caroline Dubois jabbed at each other over who the true face of women's boxing is.

While they might have laid the groundwork for a future fight, Dubois will try to steal the show in the meantime Friday night at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida where she’ll defend her WBC lightweight world title against Italian fighter Camilla Panatta.

Dubois (11-0-1, 5 KOs), the younger sister of former heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois, last defeated Bo Mi Re Shin via majority decision in March. Her fellow southpaw Panatta (8-2-1, 1 KO) produced a unanimous decision win against Marisol Corona in her last time out this past August.

Will Dubois generate the statement win that opens the door for bigger fights in 2026 and perhaps that showdown with Baumgardner? Or will Panatta play spoiler and snatch the title in a big upset? With so much on the line, DAZN News analyzes the Keys to Victory between Dubois and Panatta entering their WBC lightweight world championship bout.

Caroline Dubois’ Keys to Victory

Rifle the left hand through Panatta’s guard

It is the norm for Caroline Dubois to snap a power jab with so much force that it pounds against opponents’ gloves, knocking their hands out of place, only for the champ to rifle her left hand through the carved out space.

Dubois’ straight left hand is a forcible weapon that she should look to split and break Camilla Panatta's guard with often.

Segue from body to head

Watch Dubois fight and she will produce multi-punch combinations within the flow of her offense.

The WBC lightweight world champion is especially effective stringing together combinations that start off with piercing rib shots before segueing upstairs for additional damage.

Against a Panatta who stalks methodically, Dubois should definitely look to uncork these kinds combos that start at the midsection and end at the face and head.

Overwhelm with pressure and volume

Cutting the ring in half and smothering Panatta with pressure and volume could be more than enough to overwhelm the Italian southpaw.

It is just a matter of Dubois cranking up her mean meter and making an example of this challenger to make the statement she desires toward bigger fights next year.

Camilla Panatta’s Keys to Victory

Feint to freeze Dubois

Camilla Panatta already feints quite a bit.

Since the tactic is already part of her arsenal, the Italian challenger should feint and gauge Dubois’ reaction.

If the champ bites on the feints in any way, Panatta can strike.

Time counterpunches

When Dubois revs up, she fights with such an unrelenting pace that Panatta would be wise to fire counters in traffic.

Doing this and landing the right shot at the right time could be a recipe for stopping Dubois’ incessant fighting flow or at least frustrate the champ enough to give her something to think about along the way.

Let hands go

Dubois is going to produce a high volume of punches and there will be points over the course of this 10-round fight that Panatta must fight fire with fire.

A higher output will be needed to prevent Panatta from getting drowned out and overwhelmed by Dubois’ forward-fighting force.
