Chris Eubank Jr. has received a £100,000 fine for slapping rival Conor Benn across the face with an egg last month.
Eubank and Benn are preparing for their long-awaited fight on April 26, which will be shown live worldwide on DAZN Pay-Ver-View. They kicked off the build-up to the fight with a pair of press conferences in late February, with the first one in Manchester erupting in chaos when Eubank took a raw egg from his pocket and struck Benn on the cheek with the item as the fighters posed for their obligatory face-off.
The men had to be physically separated after the incident, and in the aftermath Robert W. Smith of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) warned that punishment could be forthcoming for the 35-year-old.
That punishment came Tuesday as the BBBoC released a statement confirming a fine for Eubank.
"Following a hearing before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jnr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025," the statement read.
"As such, the Stewards of the Board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000."
Eubank and Benn fulfilled their obligations for the second press conference, held two days after the slap, without incident.
