Claressa Shields has singled out her two Olympic gold medals as her proudest achievements.

The reigning female heavyweight champion has achieved an awful lot in her career to date, including winning world titles at four different weights and going unbeaten through 18 contests.

Shields successfully defended her titles with another comfortable success when she registered a unanimous decision victory over Franchón Crews-Dezurn last month, winning every round on all three judges’ scorecards.

The self-proclaimed ‘GWOAT’ was a guest on Inside The Ring show and when asked by host Max Kellerman to name her best accomplishment, she initially struggled for an answer but eventually said her two gold medals are what she is most proud of.

“I’m proud of all of them,” said Shields.

“The longevity to be able to keep winning, to be a champion after just four fights was pretty impressive, I recently just sold out 18,000 people in an arena – that’s not something that women don’t do.

“I have to say [my favourite] it’s my Olympic gold medals. You really have to earn it. It’s not just the Olympics – you have to go through the nationals, then the world championships, then whatever tournament it is and then there’s the Olympics, where it is only the best.

“Only the best {are there], you walk in to get lunch and you run into Serena Williams and LeBron James.”

Shields went on to explain how picking and choosing easier opponents is not something she is interested in.

Kellerman noted that the amateur discipline is different to the professional game where people can duck and avoid certain fighters, but Shields doesn’t see that as such an issue in the female side of the sport.

She added: “I think that happens more in men’s boxing than women’s.

“I could pick around and choose to fight girls I could knock out, but I only choose to fight the best.

“There are some women who fight girls that they know they can beat and knock out too, I’ve just always been one to pick the best.”

Shields was then asked who is on her ‘Mount Rushmore’ of women boxers by naming her top four female fighters of all-time and it was no surprise to see her name herself on that list.

After some serious thought, she replied: “Women’s boxing, let’s go. Ann Wolfe, Katie Taylor, myself and Lucia Rijker.”
