The eagerly anticipated clash between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall appears to be on hold following a strong post on social media from the American star.
The former amateur rivals have been embroiled in a vicious war of words in recent months and they were set to face off at some point in 2022.
Marshall has recently revealed to Boxing Social that she is recovering from surgery following her last fight, and that a proposed July fight is off the table.
Marshall is asking for the bout to be rescheduled for September, but it looks like Shields could be heading in a different direction altogether with an MMA return being teased.
“I’m not gonna sling mud with that peasant Marshall,” wrote the two-time Olympic champion on her official Twitter account. “We supposed to be fighting July now all this surgery bulls – t coming about. I’m getting ready for MMA. F that bum.”
