Wilder, Clarke, Adeleye: Who could Dave Allen face in blockbuster bout after Matchroom deal?

Dave Allen delivered on his promise of revenge against Johnny Fisher earlier this month as the veteran scored a fifth-round stoppage in their rematch in London.

Having lost a contentious points decision in Riyadh last year, The White Rhino made good the second time around to stop the Romford Bull in impressive style.

That has catapulted the star to a deal with Matchroom, reportedly for two fights, and sets the stage for a homecoming bout in South Yorkshire later this year.

While the calibre of opponent Allen faces is unlikely to be top-tier, that has not stopped the star from his own speculations on a bigger blockbuster night to follow.

But just who could he face now as he looks to likely leave the sport for a second time with perhaps the biggest payday of his life? DAZN News profiles the contenders.

Deontay Wilder

It seems almost insane to consider that Allen could face the Bronze Bomber, and even more of a stretch that the brawny American might even take the fight too.

But there is no escaping the fact Wilder's days as a major PPV draw are likely a thing of the past following four losses in his past five forays into the ring since 2020.

The ex-WBC heavyweight champion will want the biggest paydays still himself, and a bout with Anthony Joshua or Francis Ngannou would bring more to the table.

Yet if he loses his comeback bout with Tyrrell Herndon in June, his star surely will have waned to the level that an Allen dance could prove strangely tempting to take.

Frazer Clarke

A bout with more personal history than just about any other Allen could take outside of a Fisher trilogy fight would be this grudge rematch with the Olympic medalist.

Clarke won the pair's first encounter with a sixth-round victory, but bad blood has persisted since and the star continues to slate his former opponent's attitude in the ring.

In the intervening period, the former has endured some great highs and lows; a blockbuster draw with Fabio Wardley, followed by a first-round rematch defeat of his own.

Now, after dispatching Ebenezer Tetteh inside one round himself, Clarke is eyeing a bout with Dillian Whyte - but he likely would not shirk from a rematch with Allen either.

David Adeleye

Amid a crowded British heavyweight division populated by rising stars, Allen's victory over Fisher has checked the momentum of one shining light - and he may fancy another.

With Fabio Wardley set to move up to WBA interim champion if he defeats Justis Huni and Moses Itauma now ranked #1 by the WBO, Adeleye would be the obvious shout.

The star must have a rematch with Jeamie Tshikeva following his controversial win for the British heavyweight championship there, landing a major blow in odd circumstances.

Yet if he comes through that unscathed, and Allen is able to get past whichever homecoming opponent is plated up next for him, then it could prove a match made in heaven.

Johnny Fisher

Allen said in the immediate aftermath of his victory over the Romford Bull that he would not entertain talks of a third bout, as it was against both of their best interests.

Johnny FisherMark Robinson/Matchroom

The older man has a point for certain, with another match against his old sparring partner likely to cut further into Fisher's development as he aims for the higher ranks.

But it is unlikely the latter will be so keen to move on from a first professional loss and what is comfortably the toughest night of his life in the ring since a brief amateur career.

A trilogy bout would offer another major domestic carrot given his popularity and close-knit fanbase, plus the chance to definitively settle the score. It may be too much to resist.
