Former British heavyweight champion David Adeleye has responded to rumours linking him with a fight against fellow countryman and knockout artist Moses Itauma

On Monday, Mike Coppinger of The Ring Magazine tweeted about Itauma's next fight in the UK, which is scheduled for December 13 in Manchester, and named Adeleye as someone being considered to be in the opposite corner.

Adeleye was last in action on the undercard of Itauma's destructive first round knockout of Dillian Whyte in August against Filip Hrgovic. It was a fight which Adeleye would lose on the judges' scorecards, but some saw this as a useful learning experience if he wants to continue being a serious contender at heavyweight.

Facing Itauma would be another step up with many labelling him as a world champion in waiting, and speaking to iFL TV, Adeleye reacted to the rumours.

"To be honest, I don’t know. "I think we’ve both got options, but my name’s been linked and everyone’s talking about it," Adeleye said.

"There are a few avenues we can go down, a few options, and if it makes sense, it makes sense.

"Either way I’m not fussed."

While the news is yet to be made official, Itauma is set to headline a bill which will also feature British boxing legend Derek Chisora on the undercard.

The 41-year-old announced last week that he too will fight on December 13 in what will be his 50th and final professional fight with an opponent yet to be announced.

Chisora's 49th fight took place in February when he beat Otto Wallin in an entertaining 12-round heavyweight battle.
