It's not the fight Devin Haney wanted. Still, it's the one he's obligated to take as the undisputed lightweight champion puts all IBF, WBA (super), WBC, and WBO belts on the line Saturday against George Kambosos Jr. from Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
Haney and Kambosos first tangled, also in Melbourne, in front of 41,129 fans at the beginning of June. Haney neutralized Kambosos and earned a clear unanimous decision victory to become the first four-belt 135-pound champion.
There was an immediate rematch clause if Haney beat Kambosos. Despite fans not having much of an appetite for a sequel, Kambosos invoked the clause, and the fight goes down on Saturday.
Here is everything you need to know about Devin Haney vs. George Kambosos Jr. 2.
Haney came in at 134.81 lbs and Kambosos (20-1, 10 KO) weighed in at 134.04lbs. The Australian made weight at the first attempt for the rematch, unlike the first encounter in the summer where Kambosos failed to hit the 135 lb limit on his first try before coming back to make it.
The main event ringwalks are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. AEST / 10:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 a.m. BST. These timings could change due to the length of the undercard fights.
The fight will be broadcast on Foxtel PPV in Australia, while ESPN, ESPN+ and Sky Sports will broadcast the fight in the U.S. and UK, respectively.
The fight takes place at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
