Eddie Hearn reveals which one of his fighters is targeting huge showdowns with Canelo Alvarez, Artur Beterbiev, and David Benavidez
The next move of Dmitry Bivol is still unconfirmed, but his promoter has revealed the current light-heavyweight ruler is targeting the biggest fights.
Eddie Hearn has guided Bivol to several high-profile fights with wins over Canelo Alvarez and Artur Beterbeiv being the standout performances on his impressive record.
After defeating Beterbiev in a thrilling encounter back in February , just a few months after losing to the heavy-handed star, Bivol had been expected to stay busy in 2025, but injuries have derailed his momentum, and he is currently recovering from back surgery.
Bivol is expected to return in the early stages of 2026, and with the light-heavyweight currently heating up, there should be plenty of options for Bivol when he is ready to step back into the ring.
A third meeting with Beterbiev could be a possibilty, as could a rematch with Canelo, plus there is also a major fight later this month when David Benavidez defends his WBC belt against Anthony Yarde in Saudi Arabia.
Bivol wants Canelo Alvarez
Hearn is fully aware of what the environment looks like for Bivol, and he has admitted that it is only big fights that are motivating his fighter.
“I met with Dmitry and had dinner with him recently,” said Hearn when speaking to The Ring.
“The big thing and key with him is that he just wants big fights, big money, and true tests. David Benavidez and Artur Beterbiev are true tests, but they are very dangerous fights. He's a chill guy, but he's not interested in a random fight.
“He wants Canelo Alvarez, Benavidez, Beterbiev, maybe Jai Opetaia. He just wants the challenges. I'm sure we'll have him back in a big fight soon.”
