Eddie Hearn has reflected on his memories of Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn during his early years, admitting he was a "secret fan" of the latter as their sons prepare to clash .
Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn will carry on the legacy of their fathers when they top The Ring's Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, live on DAZN .
The bout, several years in the making after an original clash was scratched at short notice in 2022, will see two of the most storied surnames in British boxing clash once more.
Speaking ahead of a press conference on Tuesday , Benn's promoter Hearn recalled his memories of Eubank Sr., with whom his family were close, as well as the older Benn.
"We were Team Eubank, ironically," he told DAZN . "My dad [Barry Hearn] promoted Chris Eubank for many, many years and he was best man at his wedding.

"They were extremely close and they went on an unbelievable journey together. My mum picked his ringwalk song. I remember going down to Brighton and just being around him.
"He was extremely generous. He was a character and a lot of my childhood was around him. I travelled around the world watching his fights with my dad.
"Nigel Benn was different. He was the people's champion. He was the rough house, the guy who just wanted to tear up all the time, in the nightclubs. He was an animal.
"I was kind of a secret fan of Nigel. You weren't really allowed to be a fan of Nigel because we were big fans of Chris Eubank, and that rivalry was so intense."
The pair's rivalry may yet be upstaged by that of their sons, whose feud has grown beyond merely name association into a frequently hostile antagonism.
At Tuesday's media event, Eubank Jr. slapped Benn across the face with an egg during a face-off, sparking a fracas that saw the fighters pulled apart by security.
