Ortiz Jr. vs. Lubin - Erickson Lubin is fired up ahead of Fort Worth main event
Erickson Lubin is relishing the role of being the underdog ahead of his clash with the undefeated Vergil Ortiz Jr. in Fort Worth, Texas.
The pair will meet at the Dickies Arena on Saturday night, live on DAZN, and Lubin feels like he is an extra in the promotion.
It's no secret that this fight is seen by many as the final challenge for Ortiz before facing Jaron 'Boots' Ennis in a huge all-American contest in early 2026.
Lubin, on the other hand, will be looking to spoil the party and claim a place at the top of the super welterweight division.
"I feel like he’s [Ortiz Jr.] a great fighter, I feel like right now is my time," Lubin told Golden Boy's Face 2 Face.
"I’ve got to face the toughest guys in the division, I’m just ready to prove myself. This is my third undefeated fighter in a row, top 10 contender, I’m ready to solidify myself as the top 154lber."

When asked by Todd Grisham about being overlooked by Ortiz and his team, Lubin was quick to fire back, and stated that this feeling of being dismissed ahead of fight night is giving him the extra motivation needed to get the biggest win of his career.
"I’ve said it before with the whole promotion with the poster. Sometimes I read comments online, I see how people are overlooking me, but that’s fuel to my fire.
"I’ve been wanting the top dudes since the amateurs, with people overlooking me, it’s bringing back that type of fire in me."
While Lubin is not being backed to be the man to inflict the first defeat of Ortiz's career, he will come into the ring in a good run of form.
After losing to Sebastian Fundora three years ago, Lubin has put together a three-fight knockout streak with his latest coming in May against Ardreal Holmes Jr.
