The WBC flyweight champion believes the defending welterweight has the upper hand.

Julio Cesar Martinez predicts that Errol Spence Jr. has youth on his side ahead of his clash with Manny Pacquiao.

The 42-year-old Filipino senator Pacquio returns to the ring on August 21 to fight Spence Jr to contest his 31-year-old old’s WBC and IBF welterweight belts.

With that 11-year age gap, Martinez thinks that it gives him a slight edge, though Pacquiao remains a threat.

Speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, he said: I think the youth is going to help Spence Jr. a lot. I think that’s going to be his primary source of why Spence Jr. is going to win.

“The truth is that Pacquiao is very strong, and dedicated, but the youth and willingness Spence Jr. brings, Spence Jr. has to win.”

Turning his attention to the summer’s other big event, the WBC title clash between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, the WBC flyweight belt holder believes that Fury has the strength, but has a weakness with his speed.

“I genuinely believe that Fury is a bit slow on his feet, but he lands very impactful punches,” he explained.
