Fabio Wardley reveals whether he would ever fight stablemate Moses Itauma

Fabio Wardley has spoken out on the possibility of a future fight with his current stablemate Moses Itauma.

Wardley is due to face Joseph Parker on October 25 at the O2 Arena, live on DAZN, with the winner earning a shot at undisputed heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.

However, Usyk could opt to vacate his WBO belt to chase a big-money fight elsewhere, leaving Wardley to fight someone else if he gets past Parker.

Itauma is currently ranked No. 1 by the WBO, opening up the potential to face Wardley. However, both men are trained by the highly rated Ben Davison, and Wardley believes there is no chance of them meeting in the ring any time soon.

“We train next to each other so it might be a bit of an awkward one to try and manoeuvre and figure out.”

Itauma is still only 20 years of age but has raced into title contention after dismantling Dillian Whyte inside a round last month.

He is expected to return to the ring in December before launching his own assault at a world title in 2026.

Wardley is delighted the pair are in the mix at the top of boxing’s blue-riband division, and feels they can both hold world titles simultaneously in the near future.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that people are putting our two names together and we’re big focal points for British heavyweight boxing, but there’s a lot of other fights out there to be had,” Wardley explained.

“There’s two of us and four belts so there’s a lot more we can still do without having to feel the need to cross paths.”

Wardley remains hopeful he will get the chance to face Usyk if he can overcome Parker, but admits winning a world title of any kind is the ultimate dream.

“I’d very much love to test my skills against someone like Oleksandr Usyk, a generational talent,” he said.

“But, one way or another, the road is to a world title and that is immediately there in front of me once I get past the task of Joseph Parker.”
