Frank Warren will perhaps be the most invested spectator when Moses Itauma finally returns to the ring this Saturday night against Jermaine Franklin in Manchester

In his last outing, Itauma confirmed himself as one of the best young hopes in boxing as he required only a few seconds to get rid of former world title challenger, Dillian Whyte.

The result sent Itauma to another level and he will be aiming to build on that this weekend when he goes in with the tough American who has taken both Whyte and Anthony Joshua the full 12 round distance.

For Warren, Itauma is the next big thing and throughout the Hall of Fame promoter’s lengthy spell in boxing, Warren has had plenty of fighters who have been expected to push on and reach championship level.

Some, like Naseem Hamed, the late Ricky Hatton, and Joe Calzaghe, became huge names in both Britain and America under Warren’s guidance, but the brutal nature of boxing means that most fighters, even those who look certainties for success, for some reason just don’t make it.

Ultimate Tier - heavyweight season

Calling on so many years of experience navigating the journey of many young fighters, Warren is convinced that Itauma is the best fighter he has ever worked with for someone who is still only 21 years young.

“I have to be very, very honest with you, I've had a lot of young, really good, talented young fighters at an early age work me,” said Warren during an exclusive chat with DAZN News just days before Itauma faces Franklin.

“Ricky Hatton, Naz, all of them. And as a heavyweight at his age, I mean, he’s 21 now. At his age, he is without a doubt the most talented and the best I've seen at this moment in time. And obviously as we step him up, we'll see.

“But at this moment in time, I think he's unbelievable for his age. And I look at all the other heavyweights, how many of them turn pro in their teens? [Mike] Tyson and Daniel Dubois. But other than that, not a lot.

“I think he'll be his own man, and I think he'll pave his own way. And I would really, really like to see him fight for a world title this year.”
