Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring on April 11 when he goes in with Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The former world champion will end 16 months of inactivity as he looks to launch an attack on the heavyweight title scene being dominated by current rulers, Oleksandr Usyk and Fabio Wardley

Fury has not been in action since 2024 when two fights with Usyk did not go his way with both setbacks being the only defeats on his impressive record

Now set to resume action, the original plan for Fury was a comeback fight before heading into a major showdown with Anthony Joshua

Those plans are now on hold after Joshua was involved in a tragic car crash in December that left him injured as well as sadly taking the lives of two of his closest friends.

If that contest, one of the biggest fights that can be made in boxing, does not materialise then Fury will have other options to explore including a world title fight against the winner of Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois, who meet on May 9, or a third bout with Usyk.

Frank Warren, Fury’s longtime promoter, is more aware than most of the situation at heavyweight and he has confirmed when Fury will fight again depending on how he fares against Makhmudov.

“Tyson’s got his finger on the pulse of what he wants to do,” said Warren when speaking with DAZN News

“I don’t feel he [Joshua] will be ready, but if he is and he wants to, Tyson’s there. If he doesn’t, Tyson will want to be having a big fight in August or September. That’s what he wants.

“Last year was about his TV series. His other commitments and documentary. This year is about getting to the number one position and that’s where his head is.”
