Shockwaves were sent through the boxing world on Friday when it was announced that Conor Benn was leaving Matchroom Boxing and signing with Dana White's Zuffa Boxing on a one-fight deal for what DAZN News has learned from multiple sources is for a total of $19 million with $4 million up front to Benn in the form of a signing bonus.

Some people in and around boxing feel that paying Benn that large sum of money will not prove to be beneficial when it comes down to the bottom line of a company making their money back.Ā

ā€œThe sums of money that’s being paid – I don’t see what that type of investment is doing,ā€ Frank Warren said on Wednesday after the Fabio Wardley-Daniel Dubois press conference for their May 9 fight on DAZN PPV. ā€œHe ain’t even the best at his weight in Essex.

ā€œI’d make that fight [against fellow welterweight Ekow Essuman] in a heartbeat. But good luck to him – good luck to him and he’s getting a few quid and it is what it is. I would find definitely better places to spend my money on or better fighters to spend my money on. I don’t see that investment, but maybe I’m getting older and they know better than I do."

It is unknown when Benn will return to the ring and who he'll fight after coming off his win over Chris Eubank Jr. in November.
