The immediate aftermath of Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Lamont Roach fighting to a majority draw Saturday night had both men calling for a rematch.
But when thinking about the timetable for Davis and Roach to run it back, the WBA lightweight world champion admitted to reporters during his post-fight press conference that the rematch "probably won't be this year."
When pressed a bit further, "Tank" revealed a bit more.
"It's definitely the one I want next," he said at the podium at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. "But it's not going to be next."
For that next fight, the boxing superstar would only advise that fans and critics stay tuned.
"You might see it in a minute," Davis continued. "You definitely might see it in a minute."
He added: "See ya'll soon. I'll be back."
Upon hearing that, the boxing world will hold hope that Davis is referring to Shakur Stevenson as the two undefeated fighters have been on a collision course with extra intrigue following the verbal jabs that they have hurled at each other.
Stevenson was in attendance to watch Davis vs. Roach and actually dubbed the bout a "50-50" fight prior to the main event.
