Jake Paul: Will he face Francis Ngannou or Tommy Fury next?

The return of Jake Paul is always a topic of conversation. Will he or won't he come back after suffering a broken jaw in his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua back in December?

Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) had to have a second surgery, but he is on the road to recovery. While Paul's been skeptical and wondering aloud if he'll ever box again, his MVP co-founder, Nakisa Badarian, feels confident that an in-ring return is highly likely with mid-November to late December as the target against either Francis Ngannou or Tommy Fury as two targets for "The Problem Child."

“I think Jake views Ngannou as being very powerful, but very slow and flat-footed and not having good movement,” Bidarian told Sky Sports. "Jake’s keen for that fight. Jake’s keen for the Tommy Fury rematch."

During the fight week of their inaugural MVP MMA event on May 16, Paul and Ngannou had a couple of run-ins, with both appearing to be open to a fight inside the boxing ring. Ngannou went on to defeat Philipe Lins by first-round knockout.  

Paul and Fury (11-0, 4 KOs) fought in February 2023, with the latter winning by split decision. A rematch has been discussed for several reasons, with Paul and Fury blaming each other for the fight not happening. 

Fury returns to the ring on Saturday, June 13, against strongman winner Eddie Hall, live on DAZN.

Despite the loss to Joshua and ideas for a possible return foe, the goal still remains the same for Paul.

"Jake’s keen to try to become a cruiserweight champion," Badarian said.
