IBF welterweight champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis is hoping he can create a legacy similar to that of boxing legends Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Ray Leonard.

The start of that journey for Ennis begins this Saturday, live on DAZN, when he faces WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis in a unification bout

The contest will be taking place at Atlantic City's historic Boardwalk Hall which has been the home to a number of memorable fights in the past which have included the likes of Mayweather and Mike Tyson

Ennis is seen as someone who could become the face of boxing in the United States, and if he is to take up this mantle, he will need to put on statement performances in major bouts to stake a claim.

Speaking at Thursday's final press conference, Ennis was excited to be fighting in one of boxing's most famous venues and will be hoping he can use this stage to put on a night to remember.

"I’m definitely excited to fight at this iconic venue. One of my favorite fights to watch was Floyd [Mayweather] vs [Arturo] Gatti, and I’m excited about fighting in the same arena. Hopefully I can put a historic moment during this fight just like that," Ennis said.

“I want to be the standard of the welterweight division and be with those top guys like Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Ray Leonard.

"Not too many people can say they have fought for the Ring Magazine and division titles but on Saturday night I will, and I will be stamping my legacy right there.

"We’re going to show the world why I’m the best. We‘re going to put on a show for sure.”

Ennis' clash with Stannionis tops an exciting card, which also features Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist Omari Jones who will be featuring in his second professional fight after a successful debut last month.
