‘The Businessman’ Keyshawn Davis lobbied for his homecoming rematch against Nahir Albright to be 12 rounds.
Then, the former lightweight world champion came close to stopping his rival in the 11th and 12th rounds in a thoroughly dominating performance at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, and live on DAZN, on Saturday night. At the end of the bout, Davis didn't get his fourth straight stoppage of a fighter who had never been stopped before, but he did get a lopsided unanimous decision. Judges scored it 117-109, 118-108 and 118-108, while DAZN News had it 118-108 as well.
Davis (15-0 with 1 no contest, 10 KOs) was levels above Albright (17-3-1, 7 KOs), frustrating the Philadelphia fighter with foot feints, blazing quick hands, precision and razor-sharp counterpunches.
Aside from a lunging right hand that clipped Davis in the fifth round, Albright never came close to solving the complex boxing puzzle of 'The Businessman.' Davis scooping Albright up and slamming him down in the seventh round for a two-point penalty was the only way the Philly veteran was able to score against the former champ.
The 11th and 12th rounds had Davis surging with punches in trying to extend his streak of stoppages. Though Albright was too tough to be stopped, Davis showed his sweet science skills to be out of reach.
The homecoming card was also a successful night for Davis' brothers, Kelvin Davis and Keon Davis who won their respective fights as well.
Here's how the entire card went.
