Is Australia about to welcome a sporting great?

Plans are currently being drawn up for Naoya Inoue to fight in Australia at some point in 2024 as he looks to continue his incredible run at super-bantamweight.

Next up for the Japanese monster is a showdown with Luis Nery in May, but could he make his Australian debut if successful against the heavy-handed Mexican?

George Rose, a prominent figure at No Limits Boxing, is eager to bring Inoue to his homeland to face the fast-rising Sam Goodman.

The Aussie hopeful holds lofty ranking positions with the IBF and the WBO, and the opportunity to face Inoue in front of his local crowd could be life changing.

“This would be a huge coup for not only Australian boxing but Australian sport,” said Rose when speaking to Fox Sports Australia

“Inoue is a once-in-a-generation fighter and, in my opinion, the world’s number one pound-for-pound.”
