Floyd Mayweather’s return to boxing is confirmed with the legendary star set to face great rival, Manny Pacquiao, for a second time in September in Las Vegas

The pair first met in 2015 in an underwhelming contest that failed to live up to the hype that had existed for many years between the pair.

11 years on, the highly decorated pair are set to run it back with the fight set to be an official contest rather than an exhibition.

If successful, it is speculated that Mayweather could stick around, but with his current record standing at 50-0, a feat he is extremely proud of, facing younger fighters could put that record in jeopardy.

Andre Ward, another unbeaten fighter, believes Mayweather is taking a huge risk if he wishes to stay undefeated and he warned the former world champion that fighters today will see taking his precious zero as a major incentive.

“Floyd Mayweather’s return is bittersweet to me. I don’t mind Floyd and Manny [fighting each other], but if Floyd starts to campaign, which it seems like he is, as a professional fighter doing real sanctioned fights, I am struggling with that,” said Ward when speaking on All the Smoke Fight

“I don’t want to see Floyd take a loss against a guy that we’ve never heard of. I don’t want to see Floyd take a loss against a younger fighter, because the younger fighters, these days, they play for keeps."

“They are not so enamoured with Floyd where they won’t try to beat him up. They don’t love Floyd so much that they don’t want that ‘0’ on their record. They want to be able to say, ‘I did that to Floyd,’ because then their name is forever etched in history.”
