Oscar Collazo vs. Jesus Haro: Who has the edge heading into their fight?

Collazo vs. Haro: Subscribe to watch - March 14

Diminutive, but potent, Oscar Collazo has been a force at 105 pounds.

The undefeated Puerto Rican sensation will look to defend his unified WBC/WBO strawweight world titles against American fighter Jesus Haro at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and live on DAZN, on Saturday night. The bout will serve as chief support to the Arnold Barboza Jr. vs. Kenneth Sims Jr. headliner.

At 5-foot-2, Collazo (13-0, 10 KOs) demonstrated just how much pop he has to his punch in decimating Edwin Cano Hernandez via fifth-round knockout last March before stopping Jayson Vayson in seven rounds in September for his eye-popping 2025 body of work. He will look to defend his unified crown against Haro (13-3, 2 KOs), who is coming off a fifth-round KO of Jaime Guevara in May.

Will Collazo steal the show in another scintillating performance? Or will Haro pull off the shocking upset to snatch two titles in boxing’s minimumweight division? DAZN News examines who has the edge between champ and challenger heading into the weekend.

Ultimate Tier - heavyweight season

Boxing Styles

Fluid in motion, Oscar Collazo does a pointed job of fighting in bursts with sharp accuracy and potency. This could be reflected in a stab jab to the body followed by a whipping left hook or overhand left from the Puerto Rican southpaw who has a knack for knowing when to pounce.

His style will be contested by Jesus Haro who is not as explosive nor fast as the unified strawweight world champion, but looks to use his movement to pick his spots and pluck away with his own brand of sweet science.

That said, in this clash of styles, “El Pupilo” has a mismatch in his favor.

Edge: Collazo

Power

Collazo represents boxing’s minimumweight division, but carries palpable power as evidenced by 10 of his 13 wins coming by the way of knockout. The champ’s hand speed and footwork only amplify the force he is able to produce.

He takes this category comfortably.

Edge: Collazo

Mental Warfare

Collazo has generated three straight knockout victories and is brimming with confidence. Plus, his 5-foot-2 frame carries the burden of a chip on his shoulders.

“When people talk about the minimumweight division,” he said during Thursday’s press conference, “they don’t always expect exciting fights, but we prove them wrong.”

Collazo is the unified champion for a reason. He owns this category and a glowing presence at 105 pounds.
