Pero-Thompson: The British star with a 100% KO ratio looking to take the US by storm

Pat Brown is set to make his Stateside debut this weekend, appearing on the undercard of Lenier Pero’s headlining event against Jordan Thompson, live on DAZN.

Having already boxed all over the world as an amateur, Brown is due to fight for the first time outside of the United Kingdom. With four knockouts so far in 2025, Brown is hoping for another explosive stoppage to make his presence known in America.

The Brit is hardly a household name in his home country, let alone across the pond - but big things are expected of the cruiserweight.

Eddie Hearn is a huge fan

Of course, a promoter will always be supportive of his fighter, but Eddie Hearn has not been shy in his belief of Brown. In fact, he feels the Sale native is destined to be a star for Matchroom Boxing.

Shortly after Brown had stopped Lewis Oakford in July, Hearn was singing his praises.

The Matchroom Boxing boss said: “It is going to be hard to stop that train moving forward but this man is going to fill this place up (the Manchester Arena) in some big domestic and world level cruiserweight match-ups over the next few years.

“He is going to be so exciting and he’s a real talent. He is not just someone who has got power who comes in, this is a world class fighter and you talk about the talent we have got, this guy is right at the top of the priority list.

“Every time he steps into the ring, he is trying to take the other guy out and people love to see it.”

Pat Brown’s physical power already a problem

The little brother to the heavyweight division, there are many heavy hitters roaming among the cruiserweights, and it looks like Brown will soon be one of them.

Four fights into his professional career Brown boasts four stoppages, with none of his bouts going beyond the fourth round.

That being said, as he is yet to compete for a title, his weight limits for fight nights have been quite lax, with the 25-year-old yet to make the cruiserweight limit professionally.

Pat Brown’s amateur pedigree

Brown has not been a professional for very long, having finished his amateur career in 2024. A two-time winner of the heavyweight competition at the ABA Championships in 2021 and 2022, Brown secured his spot on Team GB shortly afterwards.

A few months later Brown would turn professional, signing a contract with Matchroom Boxing weeks after his 25th birthday.

Friendship with Dave Allen

Brown is not just supported by Eddie Hearn, the cruiserweight prospect has found a brother-in-arms in Dave Allen. ‘The White Rhino’ has taken a keen interest in many young fighters, even coaching them through their first professional fights, but Allen appears to view Brown more as an equal, despite the disparity in experience between the cruiserweight and heavyweight.

The pair are stablemates, with Jamie Moores their head trainer. Allen recently told Boxing News: “I’m the oldest in the gym. Pat Brown was a Dave Allen fan 10 years ago – and don’t let him say that he wasn’t.

“So I’m the elder statesman, really, and would say that I’m the gym leader out of all the fighters.

“But I like that role, because I really have turned up and trained hard.”

How active has Pat Brown been?

Despite signing terms with Matchroom in 2024, Brown’s professional debut was not until March 2025. He’s quickly made up for lost time, cramming in four fights between March and September.

He defeated Federico Javier Grandone just three miles from his hometown of Sale, stopping the Argentine in the fourth round at the Planet Ice Arena in Altrincham in March. Three months later he knocked out Ivan Duka in the second round of a contest on the undercard of Galal Yafai’s controversial loss to Francisco Rodriguez Jr, which was later ruled a no contest after the Mexican fighter failed a drug test.

Just two weeks later he was fighting once more, taking just one round to defeat Lewis Oakford at the Manchester Arena. In September he travelled across the Irish sea to appear on the undercard of Lewis Crocker’s second win over Paddy Donovan.

Austine Nnamdi lasted just two rounds at Windsor Park, going down once before losing by TKO. Interestingly, Brown is yet to face a fighter with a losing record, all of his opponents either having more wins than losses, or in the case of Duka, an equal amount (5-5).

Brown is showing no signs of slowing down before the end of the year, with another fight scheduled after a two month gap.

Who is Pat Brown fighting next?

Felix Valera is not a fighter who just makes up the numbers, having fought across three different weight classes. The 37-year-old enters the bout with a professional record of 21 wins and eight losses.

At one point he was viewed as a promising talent in his homeland of the Dominican Republic, although he could not decide whether to campaign as a super middleweight or light heavyweight as he racked up 13 wins on the bounce - 12 of which came by way of knockout.

The unbeaten start to his career was ended by none other than Dmitry Bivol, a future undisputed light heavyweight champion. In the nine years since that 2016 loss Valera continued to campaign at 175lbs, but struggled to step up when facing a higher calibre of opposition.

Still, his record of 21 knockouts proves that he can end fights on his own terms, whilst only two of his losses have seen him stopped. As such, a knockout for Brown would represent major bragging rights for the British cruiserweight.

In just his fifth fight as a pro, Brown will be taking part in a 10-rounder - although he will hope he won’t need all 30 minutes of the fight to pick up a win.
