Three of America’s biggest names will be in action next month when Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Teofimo Lopez all feature on the same show in New York City , live on DAZN .
The Times Square spectacular will see all three try and make a big impression, but who is the best?
Here, Tony Bellew speaks to DAZN News and ranks the fighters.
“He’s done it at the highest level against the best names and he has by far the best wins when you look at the records of all three fighters.
“To do what he done to Vasiliy Lomachenko and Josh Taylor and to do it in style told me everything that I need to know about him. When he’s in there with the best, he turns up and he always delivers. You can’t take that away from him.
“The loss to George Kambosos is obviously a mark against him, but could that be an off night or did he perhaps underestimate him?
“As it stands now, he’s pretty much beat the best fighter in two weight classes and those results are what puts him at the top for me when assessing the careers of all three great fighters.”
“This is a hard one because the result between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney was a ‘No Contest’ but I can’t forget just how dominant Garcia was in that fight.
“He bullied Haney throughout and whenever he landed the left hook, Haney was hurt, and he looked like he was struggling bad whenever Garcia let his hands go.
“The failed drug test puts a big cloud over the result of course and a rematch between the two is badly needed to see who the better man is, but for now, I think Haney is the fighter who has more to prove.”
“I’ve long been a big fan of Devin Haney but a couple of performances in the last couple of years have me concerned when he gets in with the very best fighters.
“He was very fortunate to get the nod against Vasiliy Lomachenko when they met in 2023 and that was a version of the Ukrainian who had been better in the years before.
“Then against Ryan Garcia, that was very bad. There’s been stuff that’s happened since that result, but speaking as a former fighter, Haney will know he was exposed on that night.
“He’s young and can turn things around, but as things are now, I just think the other two have more going for them.”
