Ryan Garcia realized his dream by becoming the WBC welterweight world champion in a lopsided unanimous decision over Mario Barrios on Saturday night. And the boxing world definitely took notice.
After 'King Ry' called out WBO super lightweight world titleholder Shakur Stevenson for a mega fight, Terence Crawford took liberty in previewing how that bout might go.
"I think [Stevenson] wipes the floor with him," Crawford said live on the DAZN PPV about how the pound-for-pound star would handle Garcia. "I don't think Ryan is going to be able to hit Shakur like Barrios.
"Barrios was right there to be hit, Barrios was too slow, Barrios didn't have no game plan," Crawford continued. "Shakur is not going to be that fighter to be hit on. It's simple."
Stevenson, who was by Crawford's side, is with the idea of fighting Garcia under one condition — "VADA will be involved."
Considering that Stevenson fights at 140 pounds and Garcia is a welterweight, the Newark, New Jersey product added that the two boxing sensations will need to meet at a catchweight and that a title is not necessary due to their starpower.
Devin Haney, who dropped a majority decision to Garcia only for the result to be changed to a no-contest after 'King Ry' tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug, wasn't impressed with Garcia's victory Saturday night.
There were plenty of other reactions over Garcia becoming a world champion too.
