The Cowboys looked to be on the verge of a 0-2 start.
Field goal kicker Brandon Aubrey saved the day as he boomed a 64-yarder to send the game to overtime and then nailed a 46-yarder at the end of the game to give the Cowboys a 40-37 victory over the Giants from AT&T Stadium on NFL Game Pass on DAZN. (excl. US and China).
The Cowboys led 17-16 heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams went on a flurry in the final quarter of regulation, putting up a combined 41 points (21 Giants, 20 Cowboys), which was punctuated by the miracle field goal from Aubrey.
The Cowboys and Giants appeared to stall out in OT as they were exhausted. But an interception by Giants quarterback Russell Wilson gave the Cowboys hope. The Cowboys drove into Giants territory, but it looked like it would be another long field goal try for Aubrey. However, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott scrambled for a 14-yard run that made it closer for Aubrey, leaving four seconds on the clock.
Prescott went 38 of 52 for 361 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Wilson went 30 of 41 for 450 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.
The Cowboys (1-1) head to Chicago next week to face off against the Bears, while the Giants (0-2) host the Chargers.
