Boreham Wood warmed up for the National League play-offs as a remarkable hat-trick from defender James Clarke helped them to a thumping 5-1 win at home to Wealdstone.
The 26-year-old, signed from Solihull Moors in March, opened his account for the club after 33 minutes when he slammed home on the rebound, then doubled his tally before half-time with a fine volley.
Sean Adarkwa brought the visitors back into it after the break before Zak Brunt slotted home Matt Rush’s pass to make it 3-1.
Clarke hit his third from the penalty spot before Abdul Abdulmalik completed the rout for Boreham Wood, whose place in the top seven had long since been confirmed.
