One of the under-the-radar moves of free agency is starting to pick up some traction, at least in certain NFL circles.
Former linebacker Jason Cabinda thinks the San Francisco 49ers may have pulled off a coup by bringing in wide receiver Mike Evans.
Cabinda made the point during the 'Diamond in the Rough'Â segment on Good Morning Football hosted by Kyle Brandt -Â available to Game Pass subscribers on DAZN.
His rationale began with the obvious - Evan's jaw-dropping career output.
"This is a guy who tied the record with Jerry Rice for most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with 11," Cabinda explained.
Evans' incredible streak came to an end in 2025 after missing nine games with concussion and collarbone injuries. But for Cabinda, Evan's body of work should make his signing a much bigger conversation around the league.
"I don't understand why we're not talking about it enough," he wondered aloud.
With Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne set to become free agents and the ongoing debacle surrounding Brandon Aiyuk, it leaves a clear need for wideout help in San Fran.

Cabinda believes the 49ers' latest acquisition is the man to elevate the offense to new heights.
"Mike Evans [is] a guy who is going to be a one-on-one killer. Silent assassin. A leader. Does it at a high level," he continued.
"I absolutely love this signing for Brock Purdy and this 49ers offense with a playcaller in Kyle Shanahan."
San Francisco lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, and it remains to be seen whether they can push on in 2026.
But with Nick Bosa and Fred Warner back healthy on defense and Evans giving the offense a boost, the 49ers suddenly look a lot more dangerous in a competitive NFC West.
