The Colts open their season at home against Miami, in an AFC clash between two teams with something to prove.
We break down everything you need to know about the Dolphins vs Colts and share our prediction of the result.
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami’s oft-injured quarterback, enters Week 1 healthy and poised to attack a Colts defense that surrendered the NFL’s second-highest completion rate a season ago.
If he quickly rediscovers his rhythm with explosive back De’Von Achane and the dynamic receiving duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the Dolphins’ offense could light up the scoreboard from the opening whistle.
The Colts' offense will be led by quarterback Daniel Jones, who edged out former first-rounder Anthony Richardson for the starting job. His ability to establish chemistry with wideout Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie tight end Tyler Warren will be key to whether the Colts can kick their season off with a win.
Defensively, both teams have playmakers. The Colts' offensive line must keep Dolphins' edge rushers Chop Robinson and Bradley Chubb at bay, while Miami's offense must account for veteran linebacker Zaire Franklin and talented safety Nick Cross - two of the league's leading tacklers last year.
Miami leads the all-time series 48-29, but the Colts have the momentum after winning eight of the last 10 meetings.
Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.
Tagovailoa's return headlines the pre-game talking points, but he's overshadowed by the performance of Achane, who shakes off the calf injury that's been nagging him in recent weeks to torment the Colts' defense.
Warren and running back Jonathan Taylor keep the Colts in it for a time, but Jones struggles to move the chains and convert drives into points.
Dolphins 30 - 13 Colts
