Lamar Jackson is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the NFL, and arguably the most dangerous dual-threat quarterback in the history of the league.
In seven years at quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, the 28-year-old has been every bit the franchise QB the Ravens hoped he would become.
DAZN News looks at Jackson's career to date.
Jackson, out of Louisville, was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Quarterbacks taken before him that year include: Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns), Sam Darnold (New York Jets), Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills), and Josh Rosen (Arizona Cardinals).
Despite his accomplished college career as a quarterback, multiple NFL teams famously requested Jackson to work out as a wide receiver in the pre-draft process.
After showing flashes of his potential during his rookie campaign in 2018, Jackson exploded in 2019 with an MVP season. He completed 66.1 percent of passes for 3,127 yards and 36 touchdowns, which were a 2019 season-high for QBs.
He also demonstrated his ability as a runner after racking up an NFL record for QBs of 1,206 rushing yards with seven touchdowns on the ground.
From 2020 through 2024, he continued rewriting the record books, becoming the all-time leader in rushing yards by a QB (6,173), and adding a second MVP award in 2023 after throwing 41 touchdown passes with only four interceptions.
Although his passing ability has improved throughout his career, critics still doubt Jackson's ability to shine when it matters most, a narrative driven by the fact that he has yet to win a Super Bowl despite reaching the postseason five times.
Jackson's legacy as one of the most dynamic game-changers in the history of the NFL is already firmly established, but he must add a Vince Lombardi or two to his list of achievements before he can be considered among the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game.
Maybe 2025 is his year? The Ravens are one of the leading favourites to win Super Bowl LX in no small part due to Jackson's elite talent.
