Niners, Rams vie for early NFC West supremacy

Puka Nacua 16x9

Teams in the NFC West have more wins than any other this season, with three at 3-1 and the other at .500.

Two of the 3-1 sides, the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, will meet at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, for Thursday Night Football to stake a claim for early NFC West supremacy.

The Niners experienced their first loss of the season last week in a 26-21 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite 309 passing yards and two touchdowns from Brock Purdy and 92 receiving yards and a TD from Christian McCaffrey.

They will try to rebound against the Rams, who edged the Indianapolis Colts, 27-20 in Week 4 behind 375 yards passing and three touchdowns from Matthew Stafford.

The veteran QB is rapidly making third-year wideout Puka Nacua his favorite target as the BYU product hauled in 13 receptions for 170 yards and a touchdown last week.

Vikings, Browns invade Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London

Justin Jefferson 16x9

The Minnesota Vikings are definitely logging their frequent flyer miles this season.

After playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland, last week, the Vikings face the Cleveland Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on Sunday.

And it is a vital game for both the Vikings (2-2) and Browns (1-3), who are each coming off a loss in Week 4 and can ill afford to dig themselves into a deeper hole.

The Vikings are likely to start Carson Wentz at quarterback for the third straight game in place of J.J. McCarthy, as the youngster continues to recover from injury. Wentz aired it out for 350 yards and two touchdowns, but also had two interceptions and was sacked six times in the Vikings’ 24-21 loss to the Steelers last week. Vikings' star wide receiver Justin Jefferson had 10 receptions for 126 yards.

The Vikings have a bye in Week 6, before facing the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on October 19, making this matchup against the Browns all the more important.

As the NFL continues to grow the sport internationally, this matchup will be the first of three consecutive weeks of a game in London, so plenty of eyes will be on the gridiron this weekend.

Broncos try to topple undefeated Super Bowl champs Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of two undefeated teams. (The Buffalo Bills are the other.)

Fresh off thrashing the Cincinnati Bengals, 28-3, the Broncos (2-2) will step onto Lincoln Financial Field in Philly to see if they can hand the Eagles their first loss of the season.

The Broncos have established themselves as a top-tier NFL defense, allowing an average of 16.8 points per game — the second-lowest in the league. Denver will need to be on their A-game to stop a high-octane Eagles’ team that is averaging 27 points per game.

Last week, Jalen Hurts completed 15-of-24 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 62 yards on the ground, in the Eagles’ 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Baker Mayfield leads Bucs on the road against Seahawks in big NFC tilt

Let’s see how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handle a bit of adversity this season.

After suffering their first loss last week in a 31-25 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, Baker Mayfield and the Bucs (3-1) visit the Seattle Seahawks (3-1) for a big NFC tilt Sunday.

The Seahawks eked out a 23-20 road win over their division rival, the Arizona Cardinals, via a game-winning field goal.

Mayfield will have to account for the Seahawks' defense, which has secured seven interceptions — tied for second-most in the NFL this season.

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs look to get over .500, visit Jaguars

Mahomes 16x9

It took plenty of work for the Kansas City Chiefs to dig themselves out of an 0-2 hole to get to .500.

Now, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will look to produce a winning record for the first time this season when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium for Monday Night Football.

The Chiefs (2-2) earned their second straight win by routing the Baltimore Ravens, 37-20, powered by a four-touchdown outing from Mahomes last week.

The Jaguars improved to 3-1 on the strength of running back Travis Etienne Jr. piling up 124 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Either the Chiefs are going to show they have fully bounced back, or the Jaguars are going to make a statement that they are for real this season.
