Veteran tight end David Njoku has confirmed his time with the Cleveland Browns is over, saying he’s ready to “find a new home” as he enters free agency after nine seasons with the franchise.

Sharing the news in an Instagram post, Njoku thanked the Browns' owners and shared his love for the city of Cleveland.

The 28-year-old was a first-round pick in 2017 and spent his entire NFL career with the Browns, emerging as a reliable red-zone target and locker-room leader despite frequent offensive changes and injury setbacks.

His 4062 receiving yards place 12th on the Cleveland's all-time list, and his 34 touchdowns sixth.

Last season, rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. enjoyed a breakout year as the Browns’ primary tight end target, hauling in 72 receptions for 731 yards and six touchdowns.

In November 2025, with trade rumours circulating in the build-up to the trade deadline, Njoku defiantly stated, "I'm in Cleveland, baby. I'm not going nowhere," before expressing optimism about the possibility of receiving a contract extension.

His latest comment, however, makes it clear he will be leaving, with Cleveland - under new head coach Todd Monken - moving forward with Fannin.

Now one of the more experienced tight ends on the market, Njoku will be highly sought after when free agency opens in March.
