The New England Patriots won the toss at Super Bowl LX, but after electing to kick off, they immediately conceded ground - and the lead - to Mike Macdonald's Seattle Seahawks.

In what became a first-half defensive battle for the ages, Seattle's 'Dark Side' defense sacked Drake Maye three times to help their side to a 9-0 lead at the break.

Here's how the first half of action at Super Bowl LX unfolded, with clips of all the biggest game highlights.

On the opening drive of the game, Seattle Seahawks' running back Kenneth Walker bustled his way for 10 on the ground before quarterback Sam Darnold hit tight end A.J. Barner and then wideout Cooper Kupp for big gains.

New England's defense then stiffened in the red zone, before veteran Seahawks' kicker Jason Myers converted a field goal from 33 yards out to put Seattle 3-0 up with 12 minutes left in the first quarter.

On the Patriots' opening offensive drive, Seattle's now-famous 'Dark Side' defense lived up to its vaunted reputation, making New England punt after coming up big with a sack of Drake Maye courtesy of Derick Hall.

The Seahawks went three and out on the ensuing drive before New England's offense came on with a little over 6 minutes remaining in the first.

But after finding Kayshon Boutte for 23, Maye was sacked again, Devon Witherspoon knifing through to bring him down at the Patriots' 42-yard line for a loss of ten.

The start of the second quarter opened with a bang. Kenneth Walker exploded on runs of 29 and 20 yards to put the Seahawks into the red zone.

Yet when it mattered most, New England's defense held strong once again, limiting Seattle to a second Myers field goal with 11:16 left before the half.

Leading 6-0, and moments later, Seahawks' rookie defensive lineman Riley Mills bull-rushed his way through the line to take down Maye for a sack.

On the following drive, which began nine minutes before halftime, Darnold and Walker architected a drive that drained more than four minutes from the clock before Seattle punted to the New England two.

Maye, standing in the endzone, delivered a strike to move the Seahawks out of imminent danger, but his woes continued.

First, there was yet more relentless pressure from Aden Durde's defense, followed by a drive-killing penalty called on first-year offensive lineman Will Campbell.

With three minutes remaining before halftime, Seattle put together a methodical nine-play, 41-yard drive, which ended with a third Myers field goal.

Mike Vrabel has his defense to thank for keeping New England in this at the break. They have limited Darnold to a derisory 41% completion rate, and Christian Gonzalez has held Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba to just four yards so far.

But this game could slip away fast unless Patriots' offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels finds a way to help Maye, who has just 48 yards passing so far, overcome this dominant Seahawks' defense.

"We missed too many tackles", Vrabel admitted before heading into the tunnel. Macdonald was the far happier of the two head coaches, calmly stating, "We've done a good job of taking care of the ball".

With only nine points separating the two teams, it's all to play for in the second half.
