NFL Transactions: A roundup of the biggest moves and rumours this offseason

The period between the NFL Combine and the NFL Draft is far from quiet, with teams focused on retaining key players and acquiring top talent to shape their future success.

NFL rosters can change significantly throughout March as teams apply franchise tags, negotiate with unrestricted free agents, and sign players in free agency.

Trade rumours continue to swirl surrounding Myles Garrett despite the Browns' insistence that they will not trade the six-time Pro Bowler.

The move would send shockwaves through the NFL and place the Eagles in pole position to retain their crown in 2025.

Tee Higgins, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals

In a move announced by Higgins, the Bengals applied the franchise tag to the talented wideout for the second straight year.

Higgins has been vocal about his desire for a long-term contract and will be hoping for a blockbuster extension.

Star quarterback Joe Burrow wants Higgins to remain with the team , but there is still a possibility that he will be traded if a multi-year agreement is not reached before the extended July 15 deadline.

If the 26-year-old plays on the tag, he will earn $26.2 million in 2025. If Higgins becomes available, he will have no shortage of potential suitors .

Matthew Stafford, Quarterback, Los Angeles Rams

Despite being reportedly offered more from the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants, Stafford opted to remain with the Rams on a restructured contract.

The 37-year-old will be integral to the team's hopes of returning to the postseason in 2025.

With a shallow pool of starting-calibre quarterbacks available in free agency, Stafford's decision has significant ramifications in the 2025 NFL Draft for the Raiders and Giants, who are picking fourth and sixth, respectively.

Trey Smith, Guard, Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs placed their non-exclusive franchise tag on their Pro Bowl guard , extending the deadline to July 15 to reach an extension.

The move signals the Chiefs' intent to address their offensive line woes following a Super Bowl LIX loss in which quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sacked six times.

If Smith plays on the tag in 2025, he will earn $23.4 million.

Darius Slay, Cornerback, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are cutting ties with veteran cornerback Darius Slay, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Despite leading a revitalised secondary, which  helped the team win Super Bowl LIX , Slay was deemed expendable in a move which saves the Eagles $4.3 million in salary cap space .

The emergence of youngsters Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean likely made releasing Slay more palatable as the team looks to retain other pending free agents.

Slay previously  expressed interest in returning to the Detroit Lions , with whom he spent the first seven years of his career.

Deebo Samuel, Wide Receiver, Washington Commanders

The Commanders acquired Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers for a fifth-round pick.

Samuel shared an emotional farewell post expressing his gratitude for his time with the 49ers.

The versatile wideout will provide quarterback Jayden Daniels with a talented option opposite Terry McLaurin, potentially elevating the Commanders' offense to new heights in 2025.
