Key NHL Games To Watch For The Week Of February 2

As we are in Olympic week, there is a shortened schedule but intriguing games are still on the docket.

Montreal Canadiens @ Minnesota Wild: Monday, February 2/Tuesday, February 3 (7.30pm ET/12.30am GMT/2.30am CET)

Two teams that are coming on strong as of late with each being 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. Minnesota (32-14-10) has won three games in a row, including a dominant 7-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

The Canadiens (31-17-7) are coming off a great win as well, besting the hot Buffalo Sabres 4-2 on Saturday.

Who will carry the momentum heading into the Winter Olympic break?

Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Islanders: Tuesday, February 3/Wednesday, February 4 (7.30pm ET/12.30am GMT/2.30am CET)

Two of the hottest teams in the NHL are in a big game with stakes in the Metropolitan Division.

The Penguins ( (28-14-11) are on fire with a six-game winning streak. Pittsburgh is seven points away from the first-place Carolina Hurricanes. Since coming back from injury, Evgeni Malkin has points in 10 of his 12 games.

Meanwhile, the Islanders (30-20-5) have three of their last four games and are only two points behind the Penguins. 

Florida Panthers @ Tampa Bay Lightning: Thursday, February 5/Friday, February 6 (7.30pm ET/12.30am GMT/2.30 CET)

The battle for Florida supremacy continues. Right now, though, the Lightning have the edge on the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions. 

The Lightning (35-14-4) are on a tear, going 17-1-1 in their last 19 games, including an amazing 6-5 shootout win against the Boston Bruins in the NHL Stadium Series in front of 64,617 people inside Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The Panthers (28-23-3) are on the opposite side of the spectrum as they look to continue to try and find their footing due to injuries, having lost three consecutive games.
