NHL Stanley Cup Finals: Who will be the starting goalie in Game 4 for the Carolina Hurricanes?

After coming back and losing a thrilling 5-4 Game 3 on Saturday night against the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the biggest question heading into a must-win Game 4 on Tuesday of the Stanley Cup Finals is who will be between the pipes for the Carolina Hurricanes?  Freddie Andersen or Brandon Bussi?

For now, the Hurricanes aren't showing their hand, but a decision looks to be imminent.

"I want to go keep it quiet. There's only a suspenseful thing around here that I have to hold onto," Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said after practice on Monday. "It seems to have taken a life of its own, so I kind of enjoy it."

Andersen started the game, and it didn't go well. He gave up four goals on just 16 shots and got pulled after the second period with the Hurricanes down 4-0. Brandon Bussi replaced him to play for the first time since April 14 at the beginning of the third period. He stopped 18 of 19 shots he faced before an unlucky bounce off the end boards following a Shea Theodore shot in double overtime won it for Vegas. 

The 36-year-old Anderson has struggled mightily in the last two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a .950 save percentage and a 1.12 goals-against average against the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers that resulted in series sweeps. 

That momentum hasn't flipped to the Eastern Conference Finals and this series. Anderson has a save percentage of .856 and a 2.77 GAA, and in the Stanley Cup Finals alone, he has given up 12 goals on 65 shots (.815 save percentage). 

"Obviously, you don't want to give up some of the chances we've been giving up, but overall, I thought he's been fine," Brind'Amour said. "You've got to ask him to make the save that he's got to make. I think he's done that. He's been solid for us. Bussi came in and was solid for us. So that's got to continue."
