José Aldo (32-9) will face Aiemann Zahabi (12-2) at UFC 315 in Montreal. It's a fight for the King of Rio, who is coming off a loss to Mario Bautista at UFC 307.
For the Brazilian, the aim would be to face some big names once he's won, as he told to DAZN News.
"So, once I win the next fight, I think I always want to fight against big names, right? I think that’s my goal," he said. "I always ask for big names. It was really close for us to fight now, but it didn’t work out with a big name."
A former featherweight champion now fighting at bantamweight, Aldo is now in the same division as legend and former champion Henry Cejudo. The American is someone Aldo could see himself eventually squaring off against.
"I think the first step now is to focus on the next fight and do a great job," Aldo said. "Then, I’ll be able to call any other opponent who’s highly ranked and can bring me closer to my goal."
At 38, Aldo is determined to put in a great performance against Zahabi, who is riding a five-fight winning streak at bantamweight.
"For me, this next fight means a lot," he said. "I won’t talk about giving up because I want to put on a great performance. I want to show who I’ve always been, aggressive, stepping into the ring, and getting the fights done."
