The only thing missing from his record of achievements was a stint in the UFC, and now it's here.
Patricio Pitbull (36-7) will make his debut in the MMA organisation, facing Yair Rodriguez (20-6, 1NC) at UFC 314. The headline bout on that card is Alexander Volkanovski (26-4) taking on Diego Lopes (26-6) for the UFC featherweight belt following Ilia Topuria's departure for the lightweight division.
A two-time Bellator champion, Patricio Pitbull wants to achieve the same feat in the UFC. Should he win the featherweight title in the future, Patricio Pitbull wants to face Ilia Topuria (16-0), as he explained to DAZN News.
"I would like to fight Ilia Topuria," he said. "After I win this [featherweight] belt, I would like Ilia Topuria to come back [to the division] so we can make that fight. Otherwise, I could just move up and fight him at lightweight.
"There’s a secret I can’t reveal, but I have something that will take him down."
The Brazilian could also see himself taking on Islam Makhachev (27-1), the current UFC lightweight champion. Either way, victory is just a formality for the veteran fighter.
"I feel that moving up, I would be really strong," Patricio Pitbull said. "I believe Ilia will be as well.
"Big guys in the lightweight division, like Islam, cut a lot of weight, so they’re not at their best because of the weight cut. Since we would be moving up, we would perform better as we’d be cutting less weight.
"I believe I can beat anyone. That’s where my confidence comes from. Fighting Islam would be no different. I think I would perform really well at lightweight just like I did before.
"I’ve already won a lightweight belt [in Bellator], and I believe I could do it again and surprise a lot of people."
