Eddie Hearn backed his former fighter Savannah Marshall to beat Claressa Shields when the pair meet in the ring.

Marshall and Shields, an American boxer and MMA athlete, have been exchanging barbs for months as they look to settle their rivalry.

The pair are set to fight on September 10, and speaking to The DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn thinks the Briton is too heavy-handed for her rival.

“When you look at it, I just feel it’s 50-50,” he began before adding: “In England, with Marshall’s punch power, I back her to win the fight. I don't think Claressa Shields punches that hard. I think she’ll be fighting off emotion in this fight, and that’ll be very dangerous for her.

“She’s never fought a big puncher, but they don’t really exist. But guess what, Claressa Shields isn’t a big puncher, so it’s irrelevant. She’s got two knockouts.

“Maybe [Shields] can [outbox her]. I’ve got no reason to say it, but that's what I believe.”
