Liverpool's away form continues to be a concern as the Reds head to Amsterdam to face Ajax on Matchday 5 of the Champions League group stage.
Jurgen Klopp's men dropped a 1-0 decision at last-place Nottingham Forest on Saturday in Premier League play, and that was just the latest in a string of disappointing results away from Anfield for Liverpool. Aside from a 7-1 rout of Rangers in Glasgow on Oct. 12, Liverpool have failed to win away from home so far this season in any competition, and now they face the prospect of taking on the Dutch league leaders at the Johan Cruyff Arena in a crucial European fixture.
A win on Wednesday would assure the Reds entry into the Champions League's round of 16, and it would also serve as a boost amid a stretch of wildly inconsistent play.
Klopp noted that games at Anfield have come easier for his side, but ultimately it's how the team is performing that has led to some disappointing results.
"You cannot compare these games," Klopp said after Liverpool's loss to Forest over the weekend. "That it's better for us to play at home, that's pretty much always the case but I think in normal circumstances we should have won this game [on Saturday] and then we talk differently. But we didn't, you're right, but I don't think that it has anything to do with that we played here away or whatever. It's just the situation."
