Tottenham Hotspur fell 4-1 to Brighton on the final day of the 2024-25 Premier League season, confirming their 17th-place finish in England's top flight.
It marks the end to a dire domestic campaign for Spurs, who were also ousted in the fourth round of the FA Cup and the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
However, Tottenham's domestic woes were overshadowed by the club's first European trophy in over 40 years — their first trophy of any kind since 2008 — as Spurs defeated fellow Premier League strugglers Manchester United last week to win the Europa League and earn a berth in next season's Champions League.
It's that considerable silver lining that informed manager Ange Postecoglou's answer when asked on Sunday to assess Tottenham's campaign.
"How do I assess our season? Outstanding!" Postecoglou told BBC Match of the Day moments after the final whistle of Sunday's match. "Won a trophy which we haven't for 17 years and we're in the Champions League.
"Ask any one supporter at start of the season if they'd take that and there wouldn't be a person in the house that wouldn't!"
The North London club's domestic struggles have led to increasingly loud calls for Postecoglou to be sacked, and the Australian said that it "doesn't bother" him to continue to be asked about it even after the Europa League triumph.
"Everyone in the media is intelligent enough to know I'm not the person to know to ask those questions," Postecoglou said. "I'll have a break and then hopefully we'll be back first day next season to start things."
