Newcastle United ran out 3-0 winners on Tuesday against visiting Benfica in the Champions League, with Anthony Gordon once again among the goalscorers.
Gordon struck in the 32nd minute of Tuesday's match, with Harvey Barnes tallying the other two goals as the Magpies cruised to their second straight victory in the competition.
For Gordon, the first-half strike was his fourth of the tournament, putting him in rarefied air alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Harry Kane, and Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race. And to get there, the 24-year-old scored at least once in each of Newcastle's three matches in the league phase, becoming the first player in club history to record a goal in three straight Champions League games.
But he's not done yet.
"It means everything [to set the Newcastle record] but we need more," Gordon told TNT Sports after the match, "my ambition doesn't stop there."
Gordon admitted that Tuesday's match was played on a knife's edge during the opening stages, with Benfica looking to send the St. James' Park faithful home disappointed. However, he said that once his goal went in that the mood changed among the Newcastle players.
"Because we had so many chances, we had to put one away to calm the nerves," Gordon said. "I was glad to see it go in."
