Arsenal continue their charge towards the Premier League title when they host Sunderland at the Emirates on Saturday.

The Gunners hold a six-point lead heading into the weekend, and although they've been middling in the league over the past few weeks their cushion has not waned all that much thanks to similar stumbles from chief challengers Manchester City and Aston Villa.

While much of 2026 has been relatively uninspiring, the Gunners do come into this match on a three-game winning streak thanks to victories in the Champions League and Carabao Cup. Additionally, their latest Premier League outing was a 4-0 win over Leeds United, so Arsenal's confidence should be running high.

As for Sunderland, they remain inside the top 10 despite inconsistent form of late. The Black Cats have alternated between winning and losing over the past four matches, with their last league result a 3-0 victory against hapless Burnley.

Sunderland are one of the league's best defensive sides, so they'll look to stifle an Arsenal attack that has sputtered in the past month, Leeds win notwithstanding.

Arsenal vs. Sunderland: What the managers are saying

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal

(via Arsenal)

"They are extremely competitive, really well coached, they have very good individuals, a very clear identity of what they want to do, where they want to take the game, and they are very good at it. You could obviously see the result they had against the top side, so we know what to expect but we need to deliver that tomorrow."

Regis Le Bris, Sunderland

(via Sunderland)

“We have to show the best version of Sunderland with an underdog mindset. They are playing at a huge level. They are impressive in the Premier League, outstanding in the Champions League.

“They are probably one of the best teams in Europe at the minute, so it’s a tough challenge, but an exciting challenge."

Arsenal vs. Sunderland prediction

The Black Cats did hold Arsenal to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture, but with this match taking place at the Emirates it's tough to see how Sunderland could match that goal output.

Arsenal are riding high off their Carabao Cup semi-final victory and will look to use that momentum to propel them to a proper title run, and getting past a stingy Sunderland will be a top priority for Mikel Arteta.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland
