Auckland City 1-1 Boca Juniors highlights: Amateurs stun Argentine powerhouse

The game didn't mean much in terms of affecting the rest of Group C at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, but it's one that Auckland City will never forget as they drew 1-1 with Boca Juniors on Tuesday in Nashville.

The New Zealand side came into the match having already been eliminated from contention for the knockouts, thanks to two lopsided losses to Bayern Munich and Benfica, respectively. Little was expected of them on Tuesday either, as Boca still had a chance at moving on to the round of 16 but needed a victory to do so.

Instead, Auckland City fought back from an early self-inflicted deficit — goalkeeper Nathan Kyle Garrow scored an own-goal in the 26th minute to give the Argentine side a lead — to earn one of the shock results of the tournament, powered by Christian Gray's 52nd-minute strike.
