Fresh off their win in Tuesday's top of the table clash in the National League, Barnet forward Idris Kanu has heaped praise on Dean Brennan's game plan for the victory over York City.
The Bees extended their lead to seven points over Adam Hinshelwood's side with the 3-1 win, and speaking to Curly and Aaron McLean on DAZN's Multi-Match live, Kanu put the win down to Brennan's tactics for the crunch clash.
"We're obviously a pressing team, but we really pressed them on Tuesday so they didn't have any answers," Kanu said.
"I think that's the best we've ever executed a game plan, to be fair. The gaffer came to us with it after the Solihull game, and we were thinking, 'Ok gaffer!'
"But then we worked on it on the Sunday, and he showed us some clips so we ended up executing it perfectly and it worked."
Kanu has worked with Brennan since his arrival at the club in 2022 and has hailed his current boss as not only being a top coach but for being as honest as they come - which has helped create such a bond at The Hive.
"The gaffer is really demanding," the 25-year-old continues by saying.
"He says how it is, and is honest. He's probably the most honest man I've seen in football. He relates to the players really well and knows how to get the best out of his players."
The win over York puts the club in pole position for automatic promotion as they look to return to the Football League for the first time since 2018. However, Kanu is cautious, and only admits the plan is for the club to reach a points goal, although has pointed to their solidity as a reason for their success this season.
Adding: "We've got a point goal that we want to reach, so it's not about who we take three points from, it's just about getting those points and reaching that goal. If we get to that point, then we know it would have been a good season for sure.
"In contrast to how we've been before, we used to concede a lot of goals. We might outscore some teams, but we'd concede goals. But now, we've conceded something like two goals in eight games and that's something as a team we are taking pride in.
"I don't think York had really any chances at our goal, other than their goal, and it's been like that for the last few weeks. So I feel like if we keep to being solid first, we've got the quality to score loads of goals."
