Now that the FIFA Club World Cup has entered the last eight stage, all the talk is about who the potential winners of the competition are.

The last round saw one of the pre-tournament favourites fall as Manchester City were surprisingly eliminated from the competition by Al Hilal, leaving the door open for the remainder of the field.

However, of all the quarter-final teams, Benni McCarthy can only see one winner. Speaking exclusively to DAZN News, thanks to betonlinepromocodes.com, the former striker is in no doubt who he thinks will lift the trophy later this month.

He said, "There were two strong favourites, two teams who have impressed me, but one of them was knocked out (Manchester City), so I’m going to have back the French and current European champions PSG.

"PSG are flying. They’ve got a young team, they’re exciting, and the manager gets so much out of them every game. It doesn’t matter what competition they’re in, he wants to win them all. They’ve been hugely impressive.

"As much as Real Madrid have been talked about, they’re just a little short, along with Bayern Munich."

The competition has seen teams from all over the globe light up proceedings in the States, in a tournament that was expected to be dominated by the European sides.

Yet, former South African ace McCarthy gave a special shoutout to the African teams, who, despite being underdogs, gave a great account of themselves, most notably Mamelodi Sundowns.

"I had my watchful eye on African teams," he added.

"I think Mamelodi Sundowns held their own, they did themselves proud. I think they had enough to even go through, because the European teams look to be struggling in the conditions.

"I think there are chances for South American teams, and I had thought the same for African teams because we’re accustomed to that heat and humidity.

"Of course, the top clubs like Man City, PSG  and Bayern, they might just have too much quality despite that.

"I know Dortmund really struggled with the heat and I thought that would give the Sundowns the chance to better them, but it wasn’t meant to be."
