Arsenal had the opportunity to go six points clear in the Premier League title race on Thursday but had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Brentford, putting them four points up on Manchester City as the chase continues.

The Gunners looked very much the top team in the league in the first half at the Gtech Community Stadium, and they were finally rewarded for it with a Noni Madueke goal at the hour mark.

However, Brentford sprung to life in the latter stages of the game and scored their own goal in the 71st minute before nearly claiming all three points with a couple of near-misses as the clock ticked down.

The teams ended up sharing the spoils at the final whistle, leaving Arsenal feeling like an opportunity to put some valuable distance between themselves and Man City was squandered.

"Disappointed with just a point," David Raya told TNT Sports. "We stick together. It's a tough place to come but we just have to stick together and we are still in a great position and we go again."

Raya felt that his side could have done more to increase their lead prior to Keane Lewis-Potter's equalizer for the Bees, and he credits the home side for utilizing familiar tactics to get back into the match and deny the Gunners of two more points.

"We dominated most of the first half until they got momentum," the Arsenal goalkeeper explained. "We dealt with it very well and scored the goal in the second half. I thought that was going to be enough but they played dangerous on set pieces and we conceded. We had the chances to win the game but we didn't maximise them."

With the entire league now on hiatus this weekend due to domestic cup obligations, Raya believes the Gunners are still in control despite their lead atop the standings having shrunk from last weekend.

"We are still in a great position," he said. "We have to focus on ourselves. We have the FA Cup on Sunday but we go again [in the Premier League] on Wednesday."
