It's Matchday 5 of the 2025-26  Champions League  and arguably the biggest match of the round takes place on Tuesday when Chelsea welcome Barcelona to Stamford Bridge.

Both sides are former winners of European football's most prestigious competition and head into this clash having both taken seven points from their opening four Champions League games.

Chelsea and Barcelona are riding high in the Premier League and La Liga respectively and their meeting in West London promises to be a mouthwatering affair.

Enzo Maresca's side claimed victories against Tottenham and Wolves before the international break to keep them well positioned among the leading contenders, but Tuesday's match provides a massive opportunity to create some momentum in the Champions League.

Standing in front of them will be a Barcelona side who were crowned La Liga champions last season and are now aiming to win a sixth European Cup.

Barca are again competing with Real Madrid for the Spanish title this term and will look to show their European pedigree at Stamford Bridge.

Hans Flick's side have already won on English soil this season, beating Newcastle 2-1 at St James' Park in their opening game before being held to a thrilling 3-3 draw at Club Brugge in Matchday 4.

Chelsea vs Barcelona - the key men

João Pedro - Chelsea

The Brazil striker joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals Brighton during the summer for a fee of £60million.

He made his mark immediately by helping the Blues to win the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring three goals in as many appearances, including a strike in 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

After a 10-game goal drought for club and country, the 24-year-old scored in Chelsea's recent wins over Tottenham and Wolves to reaffirm his quality.

Lamine Yamal - Barcelona

The 18-year-old is universally regarded as one of the most precocious talents in world football.

Having helped Barcelona to the La Liga title last term, Yamal has been in scintillating form again this season.

The Spanish forward has scored in their last Champions League games against Olympiakos and Club Brugge, with Chelsea sure to be wary of his threat.

Chelsea vs Barcelona prediction

Chelsea have evolved into a respected force under Enzo Maresca, winning the Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup last season.

Even with home advantage, though, they could find it difficult to stop a Barcelona side who will head to the English capital with the scent of a famous win. They have the quality to achieve it.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-3 Barcelona
